Additionally, your dentist may prescribe an antimicrobial mouth rinse. This rinse will help to treat any lingering bacteria in the mouth and prevent it from spreading to other areas.
Rinsing your mouth with salt water can also help to flush away bacteria and reduce inflammation, but avoid commercial mouthwashes, as they often contain alcohol, which can irritate the gums.
